have you heard of this?

www.callwave.com is a new service that will translate your voice mail into email. They have a bunch of ‘widgets’ . You can read or listen to your voicemail, reply to a voice mail and save voice mails for ever from the comfort of your computer.
I haven’t been able to play with it yet because my carrier, Sprint, is the one that doesn’t allow them to automatically set up their service (or something like that). I made the calls and hopefully will be reading my voicemails by the end of the week.
This sounds so perfect for me because I hate voice mail - people go on and on about how they want me to call them, but don’t give me their contact info until the end of their 2 minute message. I don’t care about all the minute details of what you’re wearing or who your boss is. If you want me to call you back, you need to tell me your phone number within 5 seconds and give me the option whether or not to listen to your blubbering. Venting done now…
YouTube already getting backlash from popover ads
August 28, 2007
The response to YouTube / Google’s new pop over video ads was overwhelmingly negative (that’s surprising…I love ads that get in my face and cover the content I’m trying to see…)
YouTube asked users to comment on the new ad system, but this is not a democracy - it’s business and ad revenue is the goal of the site in the first place. But to their defense, I can only imaging the cost of running the video site and since they’re not charging us users for the system, I don’t have a huge problem with them doing everything they can to get the dollars from ads…
It would be nice though if they could figure out a way to make the ads less intrusive - maybe a tab above the video that when scrolled over covers it, implying that the ads would be fully shown to people that had a hair of interest (or accidentally scrolled over…)
Where’s Backgammon?
August 27, 2007
So I’ve had this Vista computer for over a week and finally got around to the important stuff - THE GAMES! But Vista doesn’t come with Internet Backgammon or any of the internet games I loved from XP. What the heck is that??
Yahoo searchers spend more
August 26, 2007
According to SiCap Industries, Yahoo searchers spend 30% more than users of other search engines. There’s no clear reason why, but my theory is they’re about 30% dumber than Google users:) I’d love to see stats on MSN searchers…
Good news though for online retailers - get on Yahoo’s Advertiser Network and hopefully watch the revenue roll in..
I’m still sticking with Google even though I’m probably in the top 30% of online spenders…
